DIY Photo Magnets in Under 5 Minutes! Perfect for Gift Giving!

Looking for a cute and thoughtful gift to give a family member or close friend? Sometimes you just don’t have a lot of time to either think of something to buy or spend the time to make. Well my friends, this will be the fastest and cutest gift you could give someone with limited time and resources! This post will tell you the supplies you need and how to make this easy do it yourself photo magnet project!

Items you will need:
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Pictures
  • Magnetic Adhesive Sheet (you can either buy this in a roll, or as pre-cut sheets)
The first step would be to decide if you want to use the whole picture or just a portion. You can even cut the picture into a shape… fun examples would be a star for the 4th of July, a tree for Christmas or a heart for Valentine’s Day. Once you have decided, cut your picture to the desired size and/or shape.

Next, take your magnetic adhesive sheet and have the paper side up. Trace your picture onto the magnetic sheet with a pencil. Remove your image and using your scissors, cut the pattern you have drawn.

Then, peel back the paper to expose the tacky side of the magnetic sheet. Position your picture on the sheet and press down firmly over the whole image. A nice simple trick to avoid getting air bubbles would be to start pressing the picture down as you go along. If you find that you still have an air bubble or two, just press it out, or slide it to the closest edge.

The last step would be to check for any uneven edges. Just flip the picture over to make sure that there isn’t a piece of the magnetic sheet sticking out, or that the picture isn’t hanging off the magnet. The photo magnet should look like one solid piece when you are done. This way it will look neat and professional. Perfect for gift giving!

There you have it! An adorable, fast, and easy to make DIY photo magnet! This makes for an endearing, one-of-a-kind gift that says you put forth time and effort, although you don’t need to tell them how easy it really was. We can keep that to ourselves (wink wink). Or, maybe you will want to keep these beauties for yourself… I did both, hehe.

Enjoy and have fun!

  6. I too have a fridge covered with pictures. These would be perfect - having my pics on the fridge magnetically, rather than with tape! These would make cute Christmas stocking presents!!
