The Children’s Book From Dark To Light Is A Fresh Take On A Fall-Themed Story!

I received this book at no cost to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.

My daughter and I enjoy snuggling up together for a good book, especially on these colder weather days. It makes for a great excuse for some cuddles with my little peanut… which I will take any chance I can get! Since I am always on the look-out for a new read for my sweetie, when I found out about the book titled From Dark To Light, written by a young author named Isabella Murphy, I jumped at the chance! I can’t wait to tell you all about this aspiring new writer!

Isabella Murphy wrote this book when she was just in the 5th grade! Talk about inspiring! Just a few years later she had not only published this book, but won 1st place for the PenCraft Award in the category of Children Books! What an accomplishment! Ms. Murphy will also be headlining the 2nd Annual PenCraft Awards Ceremony along with 3 other authors in recognition for Outstanding Literary Achievement this November. This young woman, has had a wonderful array of accomplishments already under her belt for such a young age. I look forward to seeing what else she has up her sleeve, as her talent grows, in the years to come!

Her book From Dark To Light, is a story about a little boy pumpkin named Pumpker who desires to grow from just a tiny seed into a large pumpkin. He hopes to be chosen by a family to celebrate Halloween. Pumpker overcomes challenges from his siblings and turns into just what he was hoping for; a fun and scary jack-o-lantern lighting up the night at his new home. Through this story children are taught self-acceptance, as well as staying true to yourself and perseverance. All very important lessons to learn.

This book is written for 3 – 8 year olds and is illustrated with a modern, fresh twist, sure to appeal to younger readers. However, parents and grandparents alike will surely enjoy reading this story as well. Please note: If your child has a short attention span, this book might be more appropriate if they are older as there is quite a bit of verbiage.

My daughter immediately liked the cover of the book… and for a child, that’s definitely the first step to enjoying a story. She thought it looked interesting and couldn’t wait for me to read it to her. As I read the book, she commented on the story and was definitely involved in the plot. She also enjoyed watching the transformation of Pumpker from a tiny seed into a big, glowing jack-o-lantern!

From Dark to Light is a story that’s a fun read for the fall and Halloween season. It’s also a good lesson in self-acceptance for parents and kids alike.

  52. I hope this publishes alright, because Google is going away! I think the plot is incredibly clever! In my opinion, the cover of a book has to be captivating and so do the illustrations. That way the younger kids can get just as interested while the book is being read to their older siblings. Now you or your daughter can read this book to your son when he gets older! I had to pin this! Thank you for sharing!
