We all want our pets to be healthy and one of the most important things you can do for your pet's health is to take care of their teeth. Just like with our own teeth, you need to brush and care for your four-legged friends' teeth too.

A great and easy way to help maintain your dog's teeth in between cleanings would be to use dog dental chews. Dental chews can help to remove plaque, fight bad breath, promote healthy gums and teeth, and even provide nutritional benefits.

When it comes to dental chews, there are lots of different flavors and recipes to choose from. There are ones with natural ingredients and even those that take into account specific allergy concerns. If you have a small or large dog, there are lots of choices to help supplement your pet’s oral care routine

Dogs can suffer from gum (periodontal) disease just like people, and it’s not something to ignore. Dental problems in dogs can lead to loss of appetite and broken or lost teeth, and it may even damage other organs if bacteria get into the bloodstream through diseased gums. Taking care of your furry friends' teeth is important!

If you have found that your dog has a sensitive stomach or is prone to allergies, a plant-based dental treat would be a great option for you. This type of treat avoids animal protein, which can be a trigger for dogs. An example of a plant-based dental product would be Virbac CET Veggiedent Chews. They have a shorter list of ingredients and are free of animal byproducts, as well as wheat gluten. Plus, it even includes a prebiotic to help aid and support digestion.

Of course, dental chews should not replace cleaning your dog's teeth. It's important to maintain good dental hygiene by brushing their teeth daily. If you make brushing their teeth a regular activity, it will become routine, and maybe your pet will even look forward to this one-on-one time. Just think of it as a spa visit for your pet!

All you need to get started is a finger brush (that you can pick up from your vet), or even a child’s toothbrush to remove any plaque or debris. There are even special dog-friendly kinds of toothpaste that they will love! Finding the right toothpaste might even turn brushing their teeth into a fun and tasty treat.

Now, that would be great for both you and your furry friend. Happy cleaning!

  1. We have found dental chews very helpful for the doggos in the past. We unfortunately lost 5 dogs in a few years, all were old except one. We currently have two. They would love these.
