DIY No-Sew Felt and Pom-Pom Winter Wreath!

The winter season is upon us and decorating our homes for the holidays is such a fun way to get in a merry mood. I love crafting and I wanted to share with you my latest DIY project, that doesn’t even require a sewing machine! If you own a hot glue gun, you are all set! With my easy-to-follow instructions, you too, will have a pretty wreath to hang up. Great for your front door, mantle, window, and much more!

Supply List:

Metal Wreath Form
2 Different Colored Green Felt Fabrics (*Make sure you get enough of the darker fabric to cover the size wreath form you picked out and extra for the leaves. The lighter colored fabric will only be used to make leaves)
Hot Glue Gun & Sticks
Fabric Scissors
2 Different Sized White Pom-Poms

Place the metal wreath form on top of two layers of the darker green fabric. Then, cut the fabric so that it is about an inch larger around the whole circumference.

Flip the metal wreath form over and hot glue the felt to the outer rim while pinching the fabric down as the glue cools. Go all the way around until it looks like this.

Then, you will need to cut a hole in the center. I made an “X” cut and then trimmed out the extra fabric. Again, leaving about 1 inch extra around the inner circumference.

Then, hot glue the fabric to the inner ring of the metal form. Once completed, flip the wreath over and it will look like this.

If you don’t want to cover the back of the wreath form, you can skip this next step, otherwise continue here.

To cover the back of the metal wreath form, trim your remaining piece of cut fabric to better fit the outer ring of the form. This way there won’t be any extra material sticking out. If there is, be sure to cut it off. Then, hot glue the fabric in place as you did in the other steps. Next, flip the form over and cut a hole in the center and trim out the excess fabric. Once cut, flip the form over and hot glue the fabric to the inner ring (just like you did for the front of the form). Your wreath form is now fully covered.

Now, it’s time to move on to the leaves!

Using both fabric colors, cut out a LOT of leaves. You might need to cut more later depending on how full you want the wreath to look.

Once you have a bunch of leaves cut, pick one and hot glue the middle of the base of the leaf and pinch the sides together. Here is what they will look like when you are done.

After hot gluing your leaves together, now it’s time to hot glue them to your wreath! *Tip: For a more natural look overlap the leaves and alternate colors.

Once you have glued all your leaves on your wreath, step back and take a look at your beautiful creation!

Lastly, it’s time for the finishing touch! Get ready to add some cute pom-poms to look like fallen snow!

To get the look you want, randomly place your different-sized pom-poms on the wreath and adjust as you like. Once you are happy with the placement, hot glue them in place.

WOW! I just love the look of this wreath! It was so much fun to make and every time I see it in my house I get a great feeling knowing that I made it. This wreath will make a festive addition to your home décor this winter season!

I hope you enjoyed my DIY No-Sew Winter Wreath. If you make one, I would love to see it!

DIY Halloween Yarn Ghosts!

Making a fun craft with your kids doesn’t have to cost a lot of money, or time. In fact, this fun Halloween craft only cost me $4.00! And you might already have all the supplies you need. Check out my simple steps to make your very own DIY Halloween Yarn Ghosts!

Supply List:
White, Orange, and Black Yarn (Or just 1 color if you'd rather)
Googly Eyes
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun + Sticks (Or Elmer’s Glue)
A piece of cardboard (or a book) approx. 7” long

Step 1:

Cut two pieces of yarn approximately 12" in length. They do not need to be exact. Set them aside. These are going to be used for ties.

Step 2:

Take the yarn and hold the end down on your piece of cardboard. This is to hold the yarn in place before you start wrapping the cardboard with it.

Step 3:
Wrap the yarn around the cardboard 40 times to create a nice and fluffy ghost. I used Medium, 4 Yarn. If you use thicker yarn, you can cut down on the number of wraps.

Once you have completed 40 wraps, then cut the end of the yarn.

Step 4:

Take one of the pieces of yarn that you set aside at the beginning of this DIY and slide it underneath the wrapped yarn.

Step 5:

Pull the string up to the top of the yarn and tie it in a double knot. Try to make it a tight knot, so that all the yarn is bundled nicely together.

Step 6:
Once it's tied in a knot, you can slide the yarn off the cardboard. Keep the yarn held in your hand so you can cut it.

Step 7:

While holding the yarn, pull the yarn taut with the scissors and cut the bottom end.

Once the yarn is cut, it will look like this.

Step 8:

Group the yarn together and take the last piece of yarn that you set aside at the beginning of the DIY and place it underneath the grouping of yarn. Allow enough room for the ghosts head. Once you like the size, tie the yarn in a double knot.

Step 9:

If you have any longer strands of yarn, you can cut them so they don't stick out. I like a little unevenness to make it a little more fluffy looking. But one piece really stuck out, so I cut it.

Then, flip the ghost over, so the knot you tied for the head is in the back.

Repeat these steps to create as many ghosts, in as many colors as you like, for your own perfectly-sized garland. I made a total of 16 ghosts to hang nicely on our mantle.

Step 10:

Glue time! Either use your glue gun or Elmer's Glue and attach some fun googly eyes on your ghosts. Note: Make sure the double knot is on the backside.

Step 11:

I had some fun switching up the different sized googly eyes! I did combos of big and small, just one large eye, two regular sizes eyes, and so on. You can do whatever you like to make them your own.

Step 12:

Now it's time to lace all the ghosts together. I used white yarn because our mantle is white, but you can use any color you like. Take one end of your yarn and lace it through the head of each ghost till you get to the last one. Make sure you give yourself some slack at the end and the beginning for draping. Once you get the right length, cut the end of the yarn.

Step 13:

Lastly, it's time to hang your fun creation! These cute Halloween Yarn Ghosts are perfect to display on a mantle, hang over a window, on a wall, or even a book shelf! In fact, you can make a few ghosts and place them around your house for a fun decorative touch here and there.

I hope you enjoyed my Halloween Yarn Ghost DIY. If you and/or your kids make them, please share! I would love to see!
