Personalizing Our Nursery with Lettering On The Cheap Action Words!

When we found out we were having a little boy, I knew we would be making a Batman-themed nursery as my husband is a big fan. He had his eye on a more vintage Batman theme with a cityscape, themed bedding, and some comic book action words. My husband had the idea that we should do baby action words instead of the typical POW, BAM, or ZAP from the old Batman TV series. I loved this idea and found some tutorials on how to make them with foam core. However, that would have involved a ton of coloring, cutting, and gluing for just one word. Being 32 weeks pregnant, I didn’t really have the energy to take on such a large project. That's why I was thrilled to partner with Lettering On The Cheap to create the comic book action words! This saved me so much time and they were extremely easy to apply. I love how they turned out!

Lettering On The Cheap does boat, vehicle, vinyl, wall and window lettering. They make it easy to design your own project using their simple design tool. They have many fonts, shapes, images, and even clip art to use! Another great feature is that you can even upload your own images or designs. If you need any help, their site has a lot of how-to videos for designing tips, installing, and customer support. They even offer a Goof Proof Guarantee, where they will replace either part or all of your design, if you mess up the installation. How amazing is that?!

I started out using the design tool. While they had shapes and lettering that would work for what I wanted to do, I’m used to designing in other programs where I can edit all the lines in a shape. After trying a few ideas with the design tool, I decided to design my own. Once I designed my comic book action words, I uploaded my image into the design tool and saved my project. I designed multiple actions words, but uploaded it as one piece.

I received my wall lettering quickly and they even sent some extra in case I messed up with the installation. How nice!

First, I let the wall lettering lay flat as it came rolled up and then I cut out each one so I could tape them up and play with the design on the wall. Once I felt happy with the placement, I got busy applying them to the wall!

I flipped the design up towards the tape and removed the backing paper being careful to not let the design fall against the wall.

I brought the design down and used an old credit card to squeegee the design onto the wall. I did one stroke down the center and then worked my way out to each side.

I went around the edges to make sure they were secure before pulling the plastic covering off the vinyl.

I followed the instructions from the how-to video on the Lettering On The Cheap website and had no problems at all. I only needed to go over a couple of the edges with the card again and they stuck great! These were even installed over painted wallpaper and stuck with no problem! Any wrinkles you might see in the picture are actually the wallpaper, not the vinyl. It was so easy and fun, that even my husband had to try!

I’m in love with the look of this wall and am so glad I went with this, instead of trying to make my own! It’s still something I designed, but was so much easier to install than my original plan. I’ve actually started to look into other things I may want to put up on the wall. If we hadn’t already painted the cityscape on the wall, I probably would have ordered that from Lettering On The Cheap. I’m even thinking of holiday window clings I can design; such as Halloween silhouettes or snowflakes for the winter. This was so easy to install and the look is exactly what I wanted! I’m so happy with how this turned out!
