Gender Reveal Celebration! We’re Having a…

As you might have read on my blog, I am pregnant! Yippie! And it’s that exciting time when we get to have the option of finding out the sex of our baby. As I have been waiting for so many years for this little one, I couldn’t wait a minute longer to find out what we were having! Although, I do have to say… I had quite the strong hunch, and I couldn’t wait to see if my mama-instinct was right.

My husband and I were on pins and needles (especially me) to find out what we were having during our very important ultrasound appointment. This appointment consisted of the ultrasound tech measuring the baby, looking at all their organs, etc. We were so happy and beyond blessed to find out that all the measurements she took showed to be of a well-developing baby! Prayers answered! Then after that wonderful news, we found out the long-awaited answer to our question!

Since we found out what the sex of our baby was that day, we wanted to share the joyous occasion with our family. Sure it wouldn’t be a surprise to us what we were having, but it would be to them, and we wanted to have some fun with it!

I decided to put together a little Gender Reveal Party. This wasn’t something that was popular or even heard of (at least that I remember) when I was pregnant with my daughter. So I wanted to give it a go and join in on the party wagon! We wanted the celebration to be fun, special, and something to look back on and to show pictures of to our child. That’s why I decided to partner with a few awesome companies to bring this joyous event to life!

When I was pregnant with my daughter I saw these IntelliGender tests in the drug stores, and I always wondered if they worked or not. I wished I had done one with my daughter, so I knew this time, I had to try it out! The test is easy to do and can be done in the comfort of your own home. The test comes with everything you need, all you have to supply is a sample of your first morning urine and within minutes you will know the results. It’s that easy!

IntelliGender notes that their test is not 100% accurate and that you must follow the instructions precisely in order to achieve the highest accuracy, which peaks after 18 weeks. I completed my test after 18 weeks, and followed the instructions to a “T” and it was right! Our ultrasound test confirmed it and sure enough, my hunch was right! We are having a BOY!!!

For the big reveal, we decided we wanted to have some fun with telling our family what we were having. So I decided to get some Confetti Cannons from Gender Reveal Surprise! When they came in the mail, they arrived with simple and easy to follow instructions. I found that it was really nice to be able to confirm that the cannons I received contained the blue confetti color before setting them off. How you can tell is that there is a number printed on the side of the cannon. It will either be a 1 (blue) or a 2 (pink).

With just a simple twist of the cannon (hands going in opposite directions at the same time), they shoot out a bunch of confetti, and with quite a good amount of gusto, too! My husband was definitely pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed it! As the confetti falls from the sky (always point the cannons upward and away from people) you are then showered with a lovely confetti rain! The cannons worked great and I loved all the fun pictures that we were able to get. My daughter was jumping for joy with all the blue confetti falling over us and was so excited! I think these would also be a wonderful idea for a kid’s birthday party!

And what celebration is complete without some yummy food?! I partnered with the delicious R.M. Palmer Company to bring my Candy Buffet dreams to life! I wanted to celebrate this sweet occasion, with some sweets! I went with a blue, whale theme and the colors of the candy matched my décor perfectly! I think it came out really cute!

I received a beautiful variety of their chocolate covered caramel balls… sooo yummy and definitely my daughter’s favorite! We also got their delicious Peppermint Patties, which I not only used in my buffet, but my daughter helped me to cut them in half to use as a garnish on our chocolate cupcakes! By adding this little touch, I really think it took the cupcakes to the next level! Yum!

My hubby was amazed at all the delicious R.M. Palmer treats, but was really excited to see the Peanut Butter Cups in the mix! He’s definitely a fan, but he also ravishes the Peppermint Patties too, hehe. Needless to say, our family’s sweet tooth was craving a bunch of goodies and we were all ready to dive in!

In fact, our daughter took a little sample before we got started, haha!

I feel so blessed to be able to add another little bundle of joy to our family. It’s been a long journey and taken a lot of strength, perseverance, and exorbitant amounts of hopes and prayers. I am so happy to be able to share our joyous event with all of you. I hope you enjoyed reading about our Gender Reveal Celebration and learning that we are having a BOY!

Many blessings and well wishes… from my family to yours!

  2. I have never heard of this. The doctors could not tell me the sexes of my babies and I wouldn’t have wanted to know. That was half the fun of waiting!! I had a feeling you were going to have a boy before I looked.
Half of my daughters wanted to know also. I just can’t believe how far technology has come - amazing!! I am so HAPPY for your family! Especially for your little girl! A sibling is a lifelong friend!! She’ll be a big help with her brother!

    1. Thank you, Sue! Yes, sometimes its fun to be surprised! :) It was funny because I could tell on the screen during the ultrasound appointment that we were having a boy before the tech told us! I asked and then she confirmed it, hehe. :)

I hope you are enjoying every moment with your little one! When I was pregnant many many moons ago we did not have the capability of knowing sex before birth. It must be fun to have a boy and a girl both. I only had one daughter so I never got to experience raising a little boy
